Using a Transfer Stencil for a Stick and Poke Tattoo

If you find that free poking is something that you find a little bit too difficult, there is always the option to use a stencil and stencil lubricant. This can be a very effective method to ensure that the process is much easier to complete and a lot more precise overall.

As follows is the method to correctly use the transfer stencil:

Preparation

  1. Peel away and remove the brown coloured paper that is situated between the waxy paper and the upper layer of white paper.
  2. Begin to draw and print your design on the top white sheet of paper, so that the ink paper transfers the design to the top piece of white paper.
  3. Detach the piece of paper with the design on it and cut it out, preferably using scissors.

Application

  1. Put on clean, unused gloves. Prepare the area of skin that you wish to transfer the design on to by cleaning it with soap and warm water. You should also clean this area of skin with an alcohol pad.
  2. Apply a small drop of the provided stencil transfer lubricant and evenly wipe it onto the area that you intend to transfer the tattoo on to. It is crucial that you ensure the entire tattoo area and few inches of skin beyond are covered. The surface should not be damp, only slightly moist.
  3. Next you should carefully place the piece of paper upon the tattoo area, with the inked side facing down. Hold this piece of paper in place and very still for one whole minute.
  4. Peel this piece of paper off the skin, and then allow 8 whole minutes for the area to dry. The stencil should now last several wipes.

Applied to the wrong area?

If you have accidentally applied the stencil to the wrong area, you can remove it with warm water and soap, or alcohol pads. You are able to reuse your stencil several more times before it becomes impractical.

NOTE: IF you are intending to use white ink for the tattoo, you should ensure that the stencil is wiped off until it is almost gone. The reasoning behind this is that the ink will get poked by the needle and therefore transferred into the skin, resulting in unwanted colouration.
